Talks are underway to secure a priority parking area for operators dropping-off or collecting clients from London’s Heathrow Airport.
The Licensed Private Hire Car Association (LPHCA) is currently in discussions with Heathrow Airport Limited (HAL) to allow drivers to use a dedicated, low cost parking area within the airport grounds – the association says talks are progressing well.
Within the proposals are plans for toilet and food facilities, only for those who have genuine pre-bookings at Heathrow. Chauffeurs and Private Hire drivers currently have to utilise free parking areas locally such as fast food outlets and lay-bys until they know their clients are ready to be collected.
If the discussions are successful, it’s believed the scheme could be run out at other airports within the HAL group. A senior official will be addressing LPHCA members at the forthcoming AGM at the Marriot Hotel, Bath Road, Heathrow.
